What's the Problem?
Between 30% to 50% of crops are lost due to pests annually, at the same time future food demand is expected to increase by 2050 a 50%. As a result of climate change, regional expansion of pests and the impact of climate events on crops will threaten food security even more. Not only could we face food scarcity but also, we have already started to face environmental issues such as biodiversity losses, water toxicity, and pesticide resistance that force some regions to ban pesticides while others increase restrictions on their use and their presence within products. This demands new and better products, quicker to develop, and a better ratio of cost-benefit.
How are they Solving it?
Bsafe Biotech solved this problem by creating specific and resistant RNA molecules, which are biological molecules capable of interacting within pest cells while caring for biodiversity and limiting resistance appearance. We analyzed genomes by comparing the DNA of different pests using our own algorithm. RNA production becomes cheaper and faster when using enhanced-scalable microorganisms
