What's the Problem?

The current supply of cell-based bio inputs for agriculture is limited, and formulations rapidly decline in viability. This causes economic losses of US$10 billion annually. Developing more effective formulations is a challenge for the entire bioinputs industry. The difficulty in achieving this is due to the susceptibility of cells to the environment and the lack of scalable strategies and processes to improve their viability or stress tolerance. Nowadays, naturally resistant cells are used in liquid formulations or carriers that slightly improve the microorganisms’ survival, restricting their biological potential and performance under certain conditions.

How are they Solving it?

Inspired by nature, we designed a solution to improve cell-based bioinputs formulations for agriculture. With decades of knowledge in rhizobacterial metabolism, biopolymer production, and large-scale equipment performance, we developed a platform to create encapsulation protocols for any type of cell. Our microcapsules keep cells viable in solid formulations. So far, our microencapsulated bioinputs have 50% higher viability for storage and effectiveness in the soil. Additionally, they provide 20% more tolerance to environmental stress compared to traditional liquid formulations.
